4th Kind – Week 1 (Not Really)

To keep these blog posts in some kind of logical order and going to start listing them as “week 1”, “week 2”, “week 3”, etc. Yes, that’s kind of screwy, but it should work.

This week’s progress…

  1. Added pathfinding to all the enemy robots. Before, they were just attracted directly to the Hero character. Sometimes this lead to them getting stuck on the Safe House. Now the robots move around the Safe House in a more natural fashion. However, this as created a few issues. Sometimes there is a slight lag as now the game has to figure out and adjust the “path” on the fly. It isn’t that bad, but i will try to make it better. Related to this…
  2. One of the Robots tries to scoop up Hero weapons. This seems to work when the robot comes at the weapon from the top or sides, but from the bottom the Robot seems to get stuck just short of the weapon icon. I think this has to do with the size of the “path”. I will need to find a work around.
  3. Another probem with Robot 5… when using the blunderbus weapon, the spread of bullets do not go in the right direction. I’m not sure why.
  4. I’ve started to create one of the endings. It is simple, but I do not think a game like this needs to have too complex and ending. It needs some tweeking, but it’s coming along.
