So let me explain this new video game I’ve been working on lately…
Right now it’s called the “4th Kind” – as in an alien encounter of the 4th kind. For those who do not know, and really why would you, an encounter of the 4th kind is when a human is abducted by aliens. Originally the game was called “To The End”. However, I felt 4th Kind gets a little more to the point and will stick out a bit more. “To The End” sounds like a horror game to me so I think it is a little misleading.

The basic inspiration of my game comes from 2 sources: The arcade classic “Robotron”; and one of my favorite Intellivision games “Night Stalker”. I like the sort of relentless nature of both of these games. I always got a sense of doom from both games. Robotron, at least for me, was a quick frantic death. While Night Stalker was more of a gradual sense of doom that you could delay, but never completely escape.
In the 4th Kind, you will play as an unnamed abductee. Your goal will be to survive the alien arena for as long as possible. Hopefully, you will figure out the means of escape, and if can hold out long enough, get your chance to get away with your life!
The foes you face in the arena are mostly “naturally” generated. I wouldn’t call it procedural since that implies certain things in games nowadays, but the more dangerous foes will be created based on the actions of minor foes.
More coming soon!
